Development Update DesktopBSD is an open source operating system that aims at being a stable and powerful operating system for desktop users. Combining the stability of FreeBSD, the usability and functionality of KDE and the simplicity of specially developed software to provide a system that's easy to use and install, in a project with two primary goals - security and usability. What is BSD? The original BSD operating system was developed by the Berkeley University in California. Berkeley Software Distribution (BSD) is an Unix operating system derivative developed and distributed by the Computer Systems Research Group of the University of California, Berkeley, from 1977 to 1995. Today the term "BSD" is often used non-specifically to refer to any of the BSD descendants which together form a branch of the family of Unix-like operating systems. Operating systems derived from the original BSD code remain actively developed and widely used. Why DesktopBSD?
